This wonderful pair of armchairs is raised by turned circular tapered legs leading to vertical blocks flanking the bowed front apron. Above are the spindle arm supports with the spherical terminals and upholstered armrests lead to the upholstered rectangular back. Exceptional quality and condition throughout. François-Honoré-Georges Jacob-Desmalter was one of the most influential French ébénistes (cabinetmakers) active in Paris during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Born in 1770, he was the youngest son of Georges Jacob, a celebrated Parisian menuisier known especially for his seating and early neoclassical work. — Read Less
